Plastic Shaman

Ancient civilizations had initiatory rites that supported individuals within the community, collectively holding a supportive and healing space for the challenges and transitions experienced in life. We have lost this primal connection to the sangha (Sanskrit word for community) and it’s left a residue of soul hunger.

This soul hunger has awakened the collective unconscious mind. Culture is seeking out spirituality, which has developed into a spiritual marketplace that generates billions of dollars globally each year. The “Plastic Shaman”, is a phrase used for those who profit or exploit others for personal gain by culturally appropriating from indigenous traditions. Unfortunately, spiritually is not for sale. I’ve tried everything in the spiritual marketplace and I’m too embarrassed to calculate the cash I’ve thrown away. As long as you don’t buy into the proliferation of unrealistic promises, yoga, meditation, alternative medicine and other healing modalities do offer health benefits.
